Raycap’s passive telecommunications infrastructure experts, together with their partners Faber, NetPeppers GmbH, and VIAVI Solutions, welcomed 20 participants to their company location in Garching for the Raycap FTTx Academy in early September. During the all-day event, the participants were informed and trained about the basics and most important technologies.

The Raycap FTTx Academy was launched by Raycap to provide expert knowledge to professionals from cities and municipalities, associations, and network operators as well as to installers, planners, and civil engineers together with other partners from the telecommunications infrastructure. In workshops and hands-on presentations, participants learned all about the basics of fiber optic connection and interconnection technology, FTTx deployment of outer cabinets and their inner workings, splicing and measurement technology, as well as the construction of a mini-pop for use in broadband networks. Thus, the participants were able to deepen their knowledge and skills regarding FTTx systems and technologies in order to successfully meet the growing requirements in their daily work.

During the event, Volker Lange, Vice President of Telecom Sales EMEA and expert for sustainability in the telecom industry, informed in a keynote about the challenges and growing importance of sustainable solutions in telecom infrastructure.

One focus of his presentation was the use of aluminum as the ideal material for the production of outer casings for telecom networks. Aluminum is not only characterized by its exceptional durability and resistance to environmental influences but is also extremely environmentally friendly and easily recyclable. The use of aluminum in the telecommunications industry helps minimize the environmental footprint while increasing the quality and reliability of the network infrastructure.

“Aluminum is undoubtedly the best choice for outdoor enclosures in telecommunications networks,” emphasized Volker Lange. “It offers an ideal combination of robustness and environmental friendliness, which is crucial to make the telecom industry more sustainable.”

“The feedback from the participants was very good and we were thrilled by the great interest in our Academy. Our very good partnership with NetPeppers, Faber, and VIAVI Solutions resulted in an all-around successful, broad-based event where we were able to cover almost all aspects related to FTTx. We are already looking forward to the next Raycap Academy”, summarizes Volker Lange.
