Light + Building 2026: Protecting Entire Building Infrastructure with Raycap

Garching, 16.12.2025 – Light + Building 2026, in Frankfurt, Germany, during March 2026, will once again focus on next-generation building technology. Raycap, the surge protection experts, will be on the show floor to showcase their latest solutions for protecting buildings and infrastructures against surge incidents at Hall 12, Stand B64. Alongside their proven products, the company will also present innovations in surge protection for 60 mm busbars.

Raycap develops its products in its own laboratories at multiple locations worldwide, enabling the company to rapidly bring innovations and customized applications to market. With its expertise and innovative approach, Raycap has delivered numerous market-leading solutions.

Surge Protection for 60 mm Busbars
For protecting power distribution systems, Raycap has developed the ProTec 60 – a highly compact, plug-and-play AC surge protection solution that easily snaps onto 60 mm busbars. Only the PE or N conductors need to be connected, significantly reducing installation time, space requirements, and costs.

Available as Type 1+2 and Type 2 devices, the surge protectors require only 2 TE width and can be rotated 180°, shortening connection paths and improving protection levels. The ProTec 60 T2F also includes an integrated backup fuse, eliminating the need for additional space for an NH fuse. With remote monitoring via signalling contact, both the SPD and the fuse can be visually checked. At Light + Building, Raycap will also present new solutions for additional 60 mm busbar systems.

EV Charging Stations and Wallboxes – Protection for Every Charging Environment
For smaller, private, or public AC charging stations and wallboxes that are not always adequately protected via the building connection, Raycap offers the ProBloc EV T2 V. This compact, easy-to-install Type 2+3 surge protector fits even in small charging stations, with a width of just 35 mm.

For larger public charging stations, the ProBloc T1SG series surge protection solutions are ideal. They use innovative single-cell spark gap technology, developed specifically for the increasingly demanding conditions of modern power grids. This technology controls and limits follow-on currents to negligible levels.

Type 1 SPDs are available in two versions, with a nominal impulse current (Iimp) of 7.5 kA or 12.5 kA, depending on the application. Both versions feature a leakage-free design and a total lightning current capacity of 30 kA and 50 kA, suitable for systems according to lightning protection classes III and IV.

Raycap also presents the ProTec T2 DCGU, a solution to protect charging infrastructure for electric trucks and buses. The product meets the requirements of IEC 61851-23 for DC charging of electric vehicles and complies with the new IEC 61643-41 standard.

Solutions for Building Infrastructure
The ProBloc T1SG is also suitable as a retrofit solution for protecting building infrastructure. For safeguarding emergency lighting and backup circuits in large building complexes, Raycap offers the ProTec T2 DCU 3Y.

Reliable Monitoring and Protection of Data Lines
Surge protection must not fail unnoticed, especially in critical systems such as data lines. Raycap’s RayDat NMU, part of the Narrow Line series, provides a compact solution for continuous monitoring of up to 50 SPDs or 100 signals.

The monitoring system, consisting of a transmitter (NMU-TX) and receiver (NMU-RX), detects faults early. Errors are visually indicated via an LED color change from green to red, and status messages are transmitted to a central control via a signalling contact. Technicians can intervene precisely, and defective modules can be quickly replaced thanks to plug-and-play functionality. The modular, space-saving system integrates easily into switchgear – ideal for industrial and critical infrastructure applications.
