Light + Building 2026: Raycap Presents New Surge Protection Solutions

Garching, 24.02.2026 – The surge protection experts at Raycap will present their latest solutions for protecting buildings and infrastructures from overvoltage events at Light + Building in Frankfurt, Hall 12, Stand B64. These solutions, developed in Raycap’s own laboratories, focus on three new product types: for the 60 mm busbar, Type 1 arresters, and Type 2 arresters with integrated fuse.

Surge Protection on the 60 mm Busbar
For surge protection of power distribution systems, Raycap has developed the ProTec 60 – a particularly compact plug-and-play AC surge protection solution that easily snaps onto 60 mm busbars. Thanks to short connection paths, the installation’s overall surge protection level is significantly improved. Only the PE or N conductors need to be connected, which noticeably reduces installation time, space requirements, and costs.

At Light + Building, Raycap will present the new ProTec 60 RX, compatible with common 60 mm busbar systems of various widths and thicknesses, as well as with modern isolated, enclosed busbar designs, allowing universal application. Its pluggable contact ensures quick, secure, and precise installation, enabling seamless physical engagement for safe and reliable operation across all configurations. The ProTec 60 RX distinguishes itself from the standard ProTec 60 and can be combined in the future with other Raycap technologies. The ProTec 60 RX is modular and can be configured with a module width of 1 or 2 TE. The new solution supports various versions as Type 1, Type 2, and Type 2 with integrated fuse. SPD and fuse monitoring status is achieved by visual inspection or through optional remote contacts.

ProTec T1SM: Compact Surge Protection with Proven Raycap Technology
Raycap will also present the next generation of its proven Phase-GDT (PGDT) technology at Light + Building: the ProTec T1SM series. This new Type 1 surge protection solution achieves a high impulse current withstand capacity of Iimp 25 kA, making it suitable for applications in lightning protection class LPL I.

Leveraging the innovative multi-cell GDT technology, the ProTec T1SM combines the advantages of voltage-switching technology with a low residual voltage level and significantly reduced follow current stress. This prevents unwanted tripping of overcurrent protection devices, eases installation, and ensures a long service life. With its compact design of only 1 TE per pole and 72 mm height, the series provides powerful Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 surge protection even in limited cabinet space. The multi-pole plug-in module allows easy replacement during maintenance. An integrated passive status indicator and optionally available remote contacts ensure reliable condition monitoring.

ProTec T2AF: Type 2 Surge Protection with Integrated Fuse
With the ProTec T2AF series, Raycap introduces a new generation of Type 2 surge protection devices that combine surge protection and an integrated fuse in a compact 2-in-1 solution. The integrated fuse concept eliminates the need for an external fuse and significantly simplifies planning, installation, and maintenance. The devices offer a maximum discharge current of 40 kA (8/20 μs) at a nominal discharge current of 20 kA (8/20 μs), with a protection level of 1,500 V. The in-house developed fuse is tailor-made for SPD performance and provides improved low fault current performance – Isccr min 300 A within 1 s. The ProTec T2AF series offers protection independent of the fuses installed in equipment within large industrial installations.

Shorter connection paths further enhance surge protection, while the integrated fuse ensures high operational safety regardless of upstream fuses. Visual status indicators and remote monitoring contacts allow reliable monitoring of the SPD and the fuse. The ProTec T2AF is particularly suitable for building and industrial applications, EV charging infrastructure, sub-distributions, and installations with limited space.
