Smarter E Europe 2023: Raycap presents surge protection for PV systems and charging stations

Garching, 01. June 2023 – From June 14 to 16, the international solar industry will meet again in Munich for the world’s leading trade fair Intersolar as part of the smarter E Europe. Raycap, an international manufacturer of electronic components for surge protection, connectivity, and monitoring, will present its latest surge protection innovations for PV power systems and electric vehicle charging stations in Hall B3, Stand B3.280, at Intersolar.

Raycap’s solutions have been reliably protecting against damage caused by lightning and surge events for years. At smarter E Europe, the company will present, among other things, a new component for protecting large photovoltaic systems and inverters. Visitors will also learn about further developments of its proven PV box series and its latest solution for surge protection of small e-charging stations and wallboxes.

Reliable protection for PV systems of all sizes

Raycap will showcase its complete portfolio of PV system protection solutions at smarter E Europe: from SPD base elements for direct mounting on the PCB to multipole, pluggable surge protection devices for the DIN rail and the patented Strikesorb technology. Product innovations shown will include a new ProTec PV Box 7y and a 60-millimeter busbar solution.

The new ready-to-connect ProTec PV Box 7y shows the further development of the proven ProTec PV Box Series from Raycap that provides reliable surge protection in a compact design. Up to three strings can be connected to the ProTec PV Box 7y – while maintaining the compact size and same high protection level. The ProTec PV Box 7y is the most compact three-string solution on the market, offering a significant installation advantage on space-constrained rooftops. The installation process is further simplified since string installation can be accomplished without tools thanks to push-in connections, cable bushings, or MC4 connectors. With a protection class IP 67 housing, the PV boxes are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. A transparent lid makes the status display easy to read.

Also, for the reliable protection of larger energy generators such as PV power plants, Raycap presents a new surge protection solution for the 60 mm busbar, the ProTec 60. The compact ProTec 60 is plugged onto the 60 mm busbar and connected via plug & play. The solution is suitable for PV power plants and all energy generators that are directly connected to the power grid from damage caused by surge events.

E-charging stations and wallboxes

This year Raycap presents the ProBloc EV T2 V, a further development in its line of EV charging solutions. With its compact design and 35 mm width, the type 2+3 surge protection component fits easily into small AC charging stations or wallboxes. A new feature of the ProBloc EV T2 V includes V-wiring for in-line installation. The surge protection component complies with the DIN VDE 0100-722:2019-06 standard for surge protection of charging stations. The ProBloc EV T2 V can either be mounted directly on the DIN rail or screwed flush to the rear wall of the wallbox. It reliably protects both the charging station and the connected vehicle from damage caused by overvoltage events. In addition, Raycap will show other proven solutions for protecting charging infrastructure applications.
